Troukens W.: Indeling der Belgische Lepidoptera volgens herkomst en zwerfgedrag ten behoeve van het Belgisch Trevlinderonderzoek.
Phegea 19(1): 1–4.
De asviesraad van het Belgisch Trekvlinderonderzoek (B.T.O.) onderscheidt vier grote groepen Lepidoptera: biotoopsvlinders, zwervers, dwaalgasgten en trekvlinders. Beide eerstgenoemde groepen bevatten inheemse vlinders, dwaalgasten komen in de regel vanuit het buitenland, meestal Centraal-Europa, en trekvlinders komen vooral uit mediterrane of subtropische gebieden. Het B.T.O. houdt zich enkel met dwaalgasten en trekvlinders bezig.

Busse R. & Ockruck F.: Ein Beitrag zur Kenntnis der Schmetterlingsfauna des Pirin-Gebirges in Süd-Westen Bulgariens (Lepidoptera).

The authors give a general review of their observations on the lepidopterous fauna of the Pirin mountains in SW-Bulgaria. 435 species are listed. Entephria nobiliaria Herrich-Schäffer is mentioned here for the first time from Bulgaria. Moreover, information on very interesting observations is given.

A list of Alticinae (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) caught in a dune-wood vegetation in France is given. The interesting species are discussed more in detail. Figures of the aedeagus and the spermatheca of two Aphthona species are given. A complete list of the host plant records is added.

Haghebaert G.: A rediscovery of Teropalpus unicolor (Sharp, 1900) in Europe (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Oxytelinae).
Phegea 19(1): 43–44.
During an excursion to Ambleteuse (Pas de Calais, France) the author found 1 specimen of Teropalpus unicolor in the wrack beds of a mudflat in the estuary of the Slack. This species originates from New Zealand and has been observed twice in SW England (in 1900 and 1904). It is mentioned here for the first time from France.

Troukens W.: Over de expansie van Rheumaptera cervinalis Scopoli in België sedert 1984 (Lepidoptera: Geometridae).

Vóór 1984 was Rheumaptera cervinalis slechts driemaal gemeld uit België, maar sinds dat jaar heeft de soort zich uitgebreid tot 9 vindplaatsen waar ze soms talrijk voorkomt. De auteur geeft een lijst van alle waarnemingen vanaf 1984 en bespreekt de verschillen in het uiterlijk van R. cervinalis en Triphosa dubitata Linnaeus.

Olivier A.: The butterflies of the Greek island of Sími (Lepidoptera: Hesperioidea & Papilionoidea).
Phegea 19(2): 63–70.
After a short introduction about the geographical position of the Greek island Sími and the history of the lepidopterological research on the island, the author mentions 20 species of butterflies known to occur there. Three species are mentioned here for the first time from Sími. Some characters to distinguish the taxa Spialia (sertorius) semi-species orbifer orbifer (Hübner, [1823]), Muschampia proto aragonensis de Sagarra, 1924 and M. tessellum tessellum (Hübner, [1803]) are given. A list of butterfly observations of 21 and 22 April 1990 at Bozburun (Prov. Mugla, Turkey) is presented as well. Some biogeographical considerations about the butterfly fauna of Sími are presented.

Olivier A.: The taxonomic status of the population of Zerynthia cerisy (Godart, [1824]) on the Greek island of Sámos (Lepidoptera: Papilionidae).

The different literature records about the occurrence of Zerynthia cerisy on the Greek island of Sámos are listed. The English translation of the original description of Z. cerisy by Schmidt is presented and a critical evaluation of the characters stated by Schmidt for the taxon sami is performed. This last taxon is sunk into synonymy of the nominate form.

Pollet M.: Contributions to the knowledge of Dolichopodid flies in Belgium: IV. Ecology and faunistics of dolichopodid flies collected in some nature reserves (Diptera: Dolichopodidae).
Phegea 19(2): 75–85.
The results of some short inventories on dolichomodid flies (Diptera: Dolichopodidae) during 1988 in belgium are presented. The following nature reserves were sampled: Het Torfbroek (Berg), De Sint-Pietersberg (Eben-Emael), Het Hageven (Neerpelt) and De Ronde Put (Postel). A total of 2841 specimens were collected, belonging to 70 species. Many species of special faunistic interest were detected, for some of which only few records are known in Belgium. Furthermore, the capture of the dune-inhabiting Hercostomus nigriplantis in the Sint-Pietersberg Nature Reserve is highly remarkable. Finally, Campsicnemus pusillus, which was caught in a limestone marshland in Het Torfbroek Nature Reserve, is new to the Belgian fauna.

Garrevoet T. C. & De Prins G. R.: Philereme vetulata ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775): nieuw voor de provincie Antwerpen (Lepidoptera: Geometridae).
Phegea 19(2): 87.
Een tamelijk zeldzame soort wordt hier voor het eerst uit de provincie Antwerpen vermeld. Eén exemplaar van Philereme vetulata werd op licht gevangen te Blaasveld (Willebroek) op 5.vii.1989. De verspreiding van deze soort in België en Nederland, de voedselplant van de rups en het biotoop worden besproken.

L'auteur mentionne pour la première fois la présence d'Araschnia levana (Linnaeus, 1758) pour la Grèce. Il observa trois mâles de cette espèce en juillet et août 1990 sur les pentes sud des monts Rhodopes de la Macedoine grecque à une altitude de 1400 m.

Een excursie naar het Slack-estuarium te Ambleteuse (Pas de Calais, Frankrijk) werden een vijftigtal keversoorten, waaronder 23 halofiele of halobionte soorten, en 14 mariene vliegensoorten. Teropalpus unicolor (Sharp, 1900) (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) werd voor het eerst in Frankrijk vastgesteld; Aphrosylus mitis Verrall, 1912 (Diptera: Dolichopodidae) is nieuw voor het departement Pas-de-Calais en van Heterocerus aureolus Schiödte (Coleoptera: Heteroceridae) is dit het eerste record in deze eeuw.

Phyllotreta procera was caught in the nature reserve "de Kuifeend" (prov. of Antwerp). This is the forth and most northern capture of this species in Belgium. The occurrence in Belgium of this very local and rare species is discussed. Figures of the aedeagus and the spermatheca are given.

De Prins G.: Noctua janthe (Borkhausen, 1792) en Noctua janthina ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775): beide soorten in België (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).
Phegea 19(4): 121–128.
Onlangs werd aangetoond dat onder de naam Noctua janthina ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) in feite drie soorten schuilgaan: N. janthina zelf, N. janthe (Borkhausen, 1792) en B. tertia von Mentzer, Moberg & Fibiger, 1991. Beide eerstgenoemde soorten komen in België voor. Hun verspreiding wordt besproken.

Troukens W.: Cacyreus marshalli Butler, 1898 aangetroffen in België (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae).
Phegea 19(4): 129–131.
Sinds 1989 is de aanwezigheid van een populatie van Cacyreus marshalli Butler, 1898 vastgesteld op het eiland Mallorca (Balearen). De soort werd al snel een plaag voor de tuingeraniums. Op 3 augustus 1991 ving de auteur een mannetje van deze soort in zijn tuin te Anderlecht (Brussel). C. marshalli is oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit Zuid-Afrika waar de soort gewoon voorkomt.

Helophorus discrepans werd aangetroffen in drie vindplaatsen langs de bovenloop van de Semois in het zuiden van de provincie Luxemburg. Deze waarnemingen zijn de eerste van deze soort in Noordwest-Europa.

De Prins W., van der Poorten D., Borie J.-P., van Oorschot H., Riemis A. & Coenen F.: Rhopalocera of Turkey. 7. On a new species of Polyommatus Latreille, 1804 subgenus Agrodiaetus Hübner, [1822] from north-eastern Turkey (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae).

The authors describe a new species in the genus Polyommatus (subgenus Agrodiaetus), which they caught in several localities in N. E. Turkey. The new species is compared with all species of the subgenus Agrodiaetus which occur in the same area. The type specimens of the new species and specimens of most of the closely related species are figured in colour.

Phegea 19(4): 149–167.
The data on the fauna of moths of the family Coleophoridae in three Baltic republics (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) are given. 133 species are recorded for this region (for Estonia 65, Latvia 122, Lithuania 105). Host plants of caterpillars are presented following the data of our investigations and literature. For each species the authors of the records and distribution of rare species are indicated.
