Wullaert S., Verboven A. & Groenen F.: Phalonidia udana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), een nieuwe soort voor de Belgische fauna
Phegea 42(1): 2–6.
In Scandinavië is in het kader van het project om de DNA-barcode van alle Noord-Europese vlinders te bepalen, vastgesteld dat Phalonodia manniana (Fischer von Röslerstamm, 1839) bestaat uit twee nauw verwante soorten: Phalonidia manniana en Phalonidia udana (Guenée, 1845). Na de vondst van Ph. udana in Noord-Brabant, Nederland (Groenen, Huisman & Doorenweerd 2013) zijn in België in een aantal collecties het materiaal van Ph. manniana opnieuw gecontroleerd. In alle gecontroleerde collecties zijn beide soorten aangetroffen. Op basis van deze gegevens wordt hier Ph. udana als nieuw gemeld voor de Belgische fauna. Verder wordt een beeld gegeven van de verspreiding van deze soort.

Parmentier L., Couckuyt J. & Cuvelier S.: Het ‘uitgestorven’ Bretons Spikkeldikkopje na 60 jaar terug in België: recente waarnemingen van Pyrgus armoricanus (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae) in de Gaume
Phegea 42(1): 7–11.
Van eind augustus tot begin september 2013 werden in de Gaume (Luxemburg, België) minstens 6 adulten (beide geslachten) van een onverwachte Pyrgus soort waargenomen. De vlinders werden ter plaatse visueel gedetermineerd als Pyrgus armoricanus (Oberthür, 1910) wat achteraf bevestigd werd aan de hand van een genitalia dissectie van één mannelijk individu. Deze soort heeft in België de status ‘regionaal uitgestorven’ maar de laatste jaren wordt een noordelijke opmars waargenomen in onze buurlanden Frankrijk, Groothertogdom Luxemburg en Duitsland. Beide geslachten werden samen fris waargenomen evenals vrouwtjes met ovipositiegedrag rond hun voedselplant Potentilla reptans. Dit wijst op de mogelijke vestiging van een nieuwe populatie Bretons Spikkeldikkopje, 60 jaar nadat de soort voor het laatst in België werd waargenomen als standvlinder.

Troukens W.: Twee nieuwe myceliumkevers (Coleoptera: Mycetophagidae) aan de westrand van Brussel
Phegea 42(1): 12–13.
Recent werden twee nieuwe soorten myceliumkevers Mycetophagidae gevonden aan de westrand van Brussel: Litargus connexus (Geoffroy, 1785), een zeer gewone soort in Europa en de eerder zeldzame Mycetophagus populi Fabricius, 1798. Beide soorten leven onder loszittende boomschors van mycelium.

Rabieh M. M., Esfandiari M. & Seraj, A. A.: Contribution to the noctuid fauna of NE Iran: Noctuinae, Hadeninae and Plusiinae (Lepidoptera), with additions to the Iranian fauna
Phegea 42(1): 14–21.
A faunistic study on the family Noctuidae was carried out in the Khorasan-e-Razavi province, Northeastern Iran in 2010 and 2011. A total of 64 species of the subfamilies Noctuinae, Hadeninae and Plusiinae belonging to 26 genera were collected. Among them three species and one subspecies are reported for the first time from Iran: Noctua fimbriata (Schreber, 1795), Euxoa sayvana Varga & Ronkay, 1998, Eicomorpha firyuza Ronkay, Varga & Hreblay, 1998 and Hadena compta armeriae (Guenée, 1852). For these species, illustrations of adults and their genitalia are given with notes on the bionomy and distribution. Also, 20 species and subspecies were recorded for the first time from Khorasan-e-Razavi province. A list of the collected species is presented.

Poltavsky, A. N.: Phenological groups of snout moths (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae, Crambidae) of Rostov-on-Don area (Russia)

Results of pyralid moths caught into light-traps in the Rostov-on-Don area during 2006–2012 were analysed. Diagrams are presented of phenological group subdivisions made on the basis of quantitative data of pyralid imago activity from spring to autumn. Supplementary content (522 KB).

De Prins W. & De Prins J.: Metalampra italica (Lepidoptera: Oecophoridae), also in Belgium.
Phegea 42(2): 26–28.
As so many other species, Metalampra italica Baldizzone, 1977, sibling to M. cinnamomea (Zeller, 1839), has recently expanded its area northwards. The species was described from Italy, but has been recorded lately from Germany, Croatia, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Its presence in Belgium is confirmed now by examination of its genitalia.

De Prins W., Baugnée J.-Y., Georis, A., Spronck René & Spronck Raphaël: Choreutis nemorana (Lepidoptera: Choreutidae) well established in Belgium.
Phegea 42(2): 29–32.
After the first Belgian specimen of Choreutis nemorana (Hübner, 1799) was observed at Liège on 09 September 2009, leg. J.-Y. Baugnée, René Spronck and André Georis found several fig trees (Ficus carica) at Visé (prov. Liège) with frass and caterpillars of this species in September and October in 2012 and again in September 2013 some caterpillars and pupae, leg. A. Georis. Some adults were bred indoors. This species seems well established in the east of the country and could be spreading westwards. Information on its general distribution and biology is given.

Darcis M., Steckx É. & De Prins W.: Eumasia parietariella (Lepidoptera: Psychidae), un nouveau papillon pour la réserve naturelle de la Heid des Gattes ... et pour la Belgique.

Eumasia parietariella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1851) est un lépidoptère Psychidae d'Europe centrale et méridionale. C'est une espèce xéro-thermophile dont la chenille se nourrit de mousses et de lichens sur des rochers bien exposés. Nous détaillons dans cet article l'observation de trois chenilles sur les rochers préservés de l'exploitation industrielle de la réserve naturelle de la Heid des Gattes à Aywaille (province de Liège).

De Ridder L.: Sexual differentiation in the caterpillars of Pterophorus pentadactyla (Lepidoptera: Pterophoridae).
Phegea 42(2): 37–38.
Pterophorus pentadactyla (Linnaeus, 1758) is one of our common plume moths. The young caterpillars are colourless. The last instar larva develops a colour pattern which allows the determination of the sex: the males have a yellow dorsal spot (also present in the early pupa). The females don’t have such a spot.

Coutsis J. G.: Pontia beckerii from Balkhash Lake, Kazakhstan, new to the Palaearctic, and misidentified larva and pupa of Pieris krueperi from the Tarbagatai Range, Kazakhstan (Lepidoptera: Pieridae).

Pontia beckerii (Edwards, 1871) is recorded for the first time from the Palaearctic Region, in Kazakhstan. Recently published illustrations of erroneously determined larva and pupa of supposed Pieris krueperi Staudinger, 1860 are determined as belonging instead to the Euchloe ausonia species-group.

Shtinkov N. & Kolev Z.: Pyrgus andromedae (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae) at the southernmost limit of its distribution: the Pirin Mountains in Bulgaria.
Phegea 42(2): 42–46.
A new record for Pyrgus andromedae (Wallengren, 1853) from the Pirin Mts. in Bulgaria is reported, confirming its occurrence in the country. The biology and habitat preferences of this species in Bulgaria are discussed and its projected range is shown to be extremely restricted, covering an area of less than 18 km². The possible threats to its habitat are critically evaluated, its conservation status is discussed and appropriate conservation measures are recommended.

Troukens W.: Nieuwe en interessante kevervondsten aan de westrand van Brussel (Coleoptera: Silphidae & Histeridae).
Phegea 42(2): 47–48.
Recent werden drie merkwaardige keversoorten gevonden aan de westrand van Brussel: Oiceoptoma thoracicum (Linnaeus, 1758), Dendrophilus punctatus (Herbst, 1792) en Carcinops pumilio (Erichson, 1834). Deze laatste is een kosmopoliet die leeft van plantaardig en dierlijk afval.

Coutsis J. G. & De Prins W.: The Pyrgus alveus-complex in Greece (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae).
Phegea 42(3): 50–54.
The existence in Greece of two separate morphs by external characters, but identical by male genitalia, in the Pyrgus alveus species-group complex is presented, and the probability that they may represent two distinct species is discussed.

Baugnée J.-Y.: Parectopa robiniella (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae), a leafminer of black locust Robinia pseudoacacia, new to the Belgian fauna.
Phegea 42(3): 55–57.
Some mines of Parectopa robiniella Clemens, 1863 (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae) were found on 17 August 2007 on Robinia pseudoacacia L. (Fabaceae) in the valley of the river Lesse at Hour (Province of Namur). It is the first time that this Nearctic species was found in the Benelux. Information on the biology and distribution of this species are provided.

Cuvelier S.: The Butterflies and Skippers of the North-Aegean Islands of Híos, Psará and Lésvos (Greece). New observations and an update on their distribution (Papilionoidea & Hesperioidea). (Appendix)

Recent fieldwork by different entomologists and research on the internet clearly indicate the need for an update concerning the butterfly and skipper species of the North-Aegean Islands of Híos, Lésvos and Psará. The data provided in this study, include species new for these islands as well as confirmation of some poorly documented species. Pelopidas thrax (Hübner, 1821) is recorded for the first time from Híos and confirmed for Lésvos. During this survey, 6 new species were recorded for Psará. Cupido osiris (Meigen, 1829) is reported as new to Híos and Issoria lathonia (Linnaeus, 1758) needs confirmation for the same island. For the first time, Lycaena thersamon (Esper, 1784) and Brenthis daphne (Bergsträsser, 1780) are being recorded here for Lésvos. An update is provided concerning Gegenes and the distribution of the Maniola taxa is discussed. Finally, an overview of the distribution of the butterfly and skipper species of these North-Aegean Islands is provided. (Appendix).

De auteur bespreekt de vondst van 2 exemplaren van Monotoma picipes Herbst, 1793 in een lichtval te Dilbeek (VB). Deze kleine keversoort is tamelijk gewoon in België.

Mano T. & Gielis C.: Sphenarches zanclistes (Lepidoptera: Pterophoridae) new for Japan and Thailand.
Phegea 42(3): 72.
Sphenarches zanclistes (Meyrick, 1905) is recorded new for the fauna of Japan and Thailand. Megalorhipida deboeri Gielis, 2003 is recognized as a junior synonym of Sphenarches zanclistes (Meyrick, 1905). A new hostplant is recorded: Clerodendrum trichotomum var. esculentum (Verbenaceae).

Galanos C. J.: First records of Pararge aegeria and Cacyreus marshalli, and a verification of Muschampia proto from the Greek Island of Rhodes. First records of Cacyreus marshalli and Gegenes sp. from the Greek Island of Tilos; Dodecanese Complex S. E. Aegean (Lepidoptera: Hesperioidea & Papilionoidea).
Phegea 42(4): 74–77.
The presence of Pararge aegeria (Linnaeus, 1758) and Cacyreus marshalli (Butler, 1898) is documented for the first time from the Greek island of Rhodes, the existence of Muschampia proto (Ochsenheimer, 1808) is also verified for the first time by a picture. During a visit in early autumn to south-eastern Greek island of Tilos two new species were recorded, Cacyreus marshalli (Butler, 1898) and Gegenes sp. The geographical position of both islands, as well as all the species and all the localities from where butterflies were observed and photographed are illustrated. On account of these observations the total number of observed species in both islands is discussed.

Soors J. & Muus T. S. T.: Agnathosia mendicella (Lepidoptera: Tineidae), nieuw voor de Belgische fauna.
Phegea 42(4): 91–93.
Door de eerste auteur werd op 23.vii.2013 één ex. Agnathosia mendicella (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) gefotografeerd te Chiny (prov. Luxemburg). Dit is de eerste melding voor de Belgische fauna van deze lokale en zeldzame soort. Informatie over de verspreiding en biologie wordt gegeven.

Troukens W.: Orchesia undulata (Coleoptera: Melandryidae) aan de westrand van Brussel.
Phegea 42(4): 94–95.
De auteur bespreekt de vangst van een exemplaar Orchesia undulata Kraatz, 1853 aan uitvloeiend sap van een tamme kastanje (Castanea sativa) te Vorst (Brussel). Deze kleine kever lijkt talrijker voor te komen in het oosten en zuiden van België.

Raemdonck H.: Nieuwe vondst van Cardiophorus vestigialis (Coleoptera: Elateridae) in België.
Phegea 42(4): 96.
Op 09.ii.2014 werd een exemplaar van Cardiophorus vestigialis Erichson, 1840 aangetroffen te Wellin (prov. Luxemburg). Dit is de vierde waarneming van deze soort in België.
