Een hele reeks nieuwe provinciegegevens en andere interessante waarnemingen over Lepidoptera worden megedeeld.

Walterus F.: Enkele aantekeningen van voor Vlaanderen twee zeldzame vlinders: Euplagia quadripunctata en Siona lineata (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae, Geometridae).
Phegea 32(1): 7–8.
In de streek van Leuven (Vlaams-Brabant) komt reeds sinds 1999 een kleine populatie voor van Euplagia quadripunctata (Poda, 1761). Ook Siona lineata (Scopoli, 1763) leeft in een kleine biotoop dichtbij Leuven sinds 1996. De rupsen van beide soorten leven op allerlei kruidachtige planten.

Charmeux J.-F.: A new species in subgenus Superflua from Pakistan (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae).
Phegea 32(1): 9-16.
Satyrium (Superflua) khowari sp. nov. is described from the neighbourhood of Chitral (NW Pakistan). This species, apart from its bigger size, is characterized by a dark brown-"roux" ground colour, a longitudinal androconial patch at the end of the subcostal vein, and by the right angle of the postdiscal line in cell 1b on the underside of the hind wing.

Coutsis J. G.: Skippers, Butterflies and Burnet moths from the Greek island of Samothráki, in late June (Lepidoptera: Hesperioidea, Papilionoidea and Zygaenidae).
Phegea 32(1): 17-23.
The Greek island of Samothráki is located in the northern part of the Aegean Sea. Its natural vegetation is heavily threatened due to overgrazing by sheep and goat. This paper lists 30 butterfly species and 1 Zygaenidae which were observed by the author during a four-day stay in the second half of June 2003. Among these are 5 butterfly species which had never been recorded before from the island. Some species which could be expected to turn up on the island are listed as well.

Cuppen J. G. M.: Hydraena subimpressa, nieuw voor België (Coleoptera: Hydraenidae).
Phegea 32(1): 25–32.
Hydraena subimpressa wordt hier voor het eerst uit België vermeld. De determinatie van de soorten uit de Hydraena nigrita groep wordt besproken. Enkele inlichtingen over de verspreiding (met een kaartje) en de biologie worden gegeven.

Meuris E.: Calophasia lunula en enkele andere interessante vondsten te Gentbrugge (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).
Phegea 32(1): 33–35.
Op 20 augustus 2003 werd een volgroeide rups van Calophasia lunula (Hufnagel, 1766) gevonden op Linaria vulgaris te Gentbrugge (Oost-Vlaanderen). Dit is de eerste melding van deze soort voor die provincie. Enkele andere soorten werden eveneens voor het eerst uit Oost-Vlaanderen vermeld.

De Vrieze M.: Mythimna (Morphopoliana) languida (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).
Phegea 32(1): 36.
De eerste twee exemplaren van Mythimna (Morphopoliana) languida (Walker, 1858) uit Spanje werden verzameld in het najaar van 2001. In de periode november-december 2002 werden nog eens 3 exemplaren gevangen en in november-december 2003 zelfs een tiental te Jávea (Alicante).

De Vrieze M.: Interessante waarnemingen van Lepidoptera in Griekenland: Deel III.
Phegea 32(2): 37–48.
In de periode van 2 tot 15 september 2002, werden dag- en nachtvlinders geobserveerd op verschillende Griekse vindplaatsen. De belangrijkste bezochte lokaliteiten waren Kónitsa (Ioannina) en Vogatsikó (Kastoriá). Een lijst van de waargenomen soorten wordt gegeven.

De Prins W. & Spronck R.: Four new species for the Belgian fauna (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae, Coleophoridae and Tortricidae).
Phegea 32(2): 49–54.
Recently, 4 new Lepidoptera species were recorded in Belgium: Caloptilia semifascia (Haworth, 1828) (Gracillariidae), Coleophora calycotomella Stainton, 1869, C. adspersella Benander, 1939 (Coleophoridae) and Cydia inquinatana (Hübner, [1799]). All specimens were caught in the east of the country, provinces Limburg and Liège.

Troukens W.: De roodschildkever, Platycis minutus, nu ook in Brabant (Coleoptera: Lycidae).

Tot 1980 was deze kleine kever haast onbekend in België. Sindsdien heeft de soort een belangrijke oppervlakte gekoloniseerd, vooral in de streek rond Brussel.

Poltavsky A. N. & Stradomsky B. V.: Hemaris croatica (Lepidoptera: Sphingidae) in the Rostov-on-Don Region (South Russia).
Phegea 32(2): 59–62.
The only record of Hemaris croatica (Esper, 1800) from the region of Rostov-on-Don dates back to Alpheraky (1876) who observed a specimen in the steppe near Taganrog. The most nearby populations were found in south-east Crimea, and in the regions of Lugansk and Donezk in Ukraine. Pittaway (1993) mentions some extict populations close to river Wolga. The authors discovered three local popularions in the southwest of Rostov-on-Don.

Charmeux J.-F. & Pagès J.: A new species of the genus Turanana from Pakistan (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae).
Phegea 32(2): 63–69.
Turanana chitrali sp. nov. is described from the neighbourhood of Chitral (NW Pakistan). This new species is characterized by the reduced blue suffusion on the upperside and by a discrete white submarginal lunule in space 1. On the underside of the hindwing, the postdiscal dot in space 2 is displaced basally. The female has a bluish-violet suffusion in the basal and discal areas on the upperside, some indistinct whitish submarginal spots, of which a white lunule in space 1 is conspicuous.

Carbonell F., Borie J.-P. & De Prins J.: The ultra-specific complex of Polyommatus (Agrodiaetus) eurypilos (Gerhard, [1851]). Polyommatus (Agrodiaetus) schuriani attalaensis n. ssp. from S-W. Turkey (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae).
Phegea 32(3): 77–90.
The male of the new entity is distinguished from the nominate subspecies: on the upper side of the wings, by the distally less deeply blackened veins; on the underside, by a lighter and more brownish ground colour, less marked postdiscal spots, and a more reduced bluish basal area. The distinctive and constant characters with the related species are reminded and completed. The karyotype of the new entity has been established, n = ca. 87, it is significantly higher than P. (Agrodiaetus) eurypilos (n = 81).

Cuvelier S., Degrande J., Merveillie L., Spruytte S. & Vervaeke J.: Verspreidingsgegevens van de dagvlinders in de provincie West-Vlaanderen (België) Intermediaire analyse (2000-2003).

Hoewel de dagvlinders (Hesperioidea, Papilionoidea) van West-Vlaanderen (België) vroeger al deel uitgemaakt hebben van een breder onderzoek, bleek dat er voor deze provincie heel wat gegevens ontbraken. Bovendien hadden de auteurs de indruk dat de dagvlinderfauna in deze Belgische provincie, die gekend is als een zeer soortenarme regio, actueel nog meer onder druk staat waardoor sommige, vroeger vrij banale soorten, er op vele plaatsen zelfs bijna met uitsterven bedreigd zijn. De auteurs geven hier een eerste intermediaire analyse (2000-2003) van het inventarisatieproject van de dagvlinders (Hesperioidea en Papilionoidea) voor de provincie West-Vlaanderen. De inventarisatie gebeurde op basis van UTM kilometerhokken (1×1 km). De verspreiding van alle soorten wordt in kaarten weergegeven met UTM rasters van 5×5 km. Dit project wordt gecoördineerd door de leden van de Z.W.V.V.K. in samenwerking met een groot aantal vrijwilligers.

Groenen F. & De Prins W.: Cydia grunertiana, nieuw voor de Belgische fauna (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae).

Op 27 september 2003 werd een exemplaar Cydia grunertiana (Ratzeburg, 1868) binnenshuis waargenomen te Antwerpen-Deurne. Deze soort wordt hier voor het eerst uit België vermeld. De rups leeft onder de schors van Larix sp.

van Oorschot H., van den Brink H. & Coutsis J. G.: Rhopalocera of Turkey 17. Satyrium ilicis zabni raised to species level (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae).

Satyrium ilicis zabni van Oorschot & van den Brink, 1991 is raised to species level based on wide distributional overlap and actual sympatry with S. ilicis ilicis (Esper, [1779]), and constant differences with the latter taxon in male genitalia, and colour and markings on the underside of the wings.

Nyst R. H.: Sceliodes laisalis, an African species on a visit in Belgium (Lepidoptera: Crambidae).
Phegea 32(4): 147–148.
A single specimen of Sceliodes laisalis (Walker, 1859) was caught in a light trap in the centre of Brussels on 05 August 2004. It remains unknown whether this specimen represents a migrant or whether it was imported with tomatoes, its larval hostplant. This is the first record of this species in Belgium. In Europe, only very few records are know from Spain and the United Kingdom.

Troukens W.: Bolitophagus reticulatus aan de westrand van Brussel (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae).

Op 03 augustus 2004 werd een mannetje van Bolitophagus reticulatus (Linnaeus, 1767) verzameld in een lichtval te Dilbeek (Brabant). Het gaat om het tweede exemplaar uit België.

Anastassiu H. T. & Coutsis J. G.: Polyommatus (Neolysandra) coelestina from central Greece (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae).

A new locality of Polyommatus (Neolysandra) coelestina (Eversmann, 1843) was discovered on the Greek mainland, which shows that the butterfly is not a Peloponnesean isolate.

De Vrieze M.: Mythimna (Morphopoliana) languida (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).
Phegea 32(4): 156.
In april 2004 werden de eerste twee exemplaren van de voorjaarsgeneratie van Mythimna (Morphopoliana) languida (Walker, 1858) verzameld te Jávea (Alicante), Spanje. De voorspelde, waarschijnlijke bivoltiene cyclus voor Spanje (Yela & De Vrieze 2002) wordt hiermede bevestigd.
